For 97 years, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children has been
a leader in the healthcare community and at the forefront of
expertise and innovation in pediatric orthopedics. After nearly
a century at the same Dallas location, the hospital has opened a
second facility in Frisco. After years of planning and two years
of construction, the Scottish Rite for Children Orthopedic and
Sports Medicine Center in Frisco opened in October.
As we recognized the incredible growth in North Dallas and
the booming sports scene in the area, we chose Frisco for the new
orthopedic and sports medicine center.
The state-of-the-art facility is anchored by our Center for
Excellence in Sports Medicine, which has been caring for young
athletes throughout the area for several years. The new campus
gives our physicians access to numerous features and resources to
enhance the patient experience. The facility includes a Movement
Science Lab with a running track, a large therapy area, a turfed
field for training, and everything our physicians need to treat
pediatric athletes.
The Movement Science Lab analyzes an athlete’s movements
using enhanced video-motion technology designed to analyze
sport-specific movements and address general orthopedic cases.
It can analyze everything from a patient’s walking pattern to a
young baseball player’s pitching motion.
A sports therapy field adjacent to the Movement Science Lab
is made with artificial turf containing highly specialized material
to keep the temperature lower than traditional turfs. The field
provides a space for training, rehabilitation and injury prevention
activities.
With these innovations and medical expertise, our team
specializes in developing individualized treatment plans —
consistent with our objective of treating the whole child —
to provide the best outcomes for each athlete. From injury
prevention to surgery and physical therapy, Scottish Rite for
Children addresses every step of the recovery process.
Although the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center is
anchored in sports medicine, the facility provides many of the
same services as at our Dallas campus. This allows us to meet the
needs of each child who comes through our doors. To that end,
the Frisco campus offers orthopedic outpatient clinics, a fracture
clinic with walk-in hours, and a physical therapy gym. The
facility includes hand, rheumatology, orthotics, and prosthetics
services as well as sports, occupational and physical therapy. The
space has two operating rooms for day surgeries, a radiology
facility and dedicated space for psychology, infusion and other
ancillary patient resources to support the integrated care model
that the hospital designed years ago.
“Our dedication to treating the whole child is one of our
guiding principles and is the foundation of our approach at the
Frisco campus,” says hospital Chief of Staff Daniel J. Sucato,
MD. “We are excited to extend our expertise to this region and
benefit children throughout North Texas and beyond.”
